File-transfer from camera media (SD cards for example) to hard drives:
- Usually we don't delete files* in the media cards after they are transferred to the hard drive.
- The file names on the media cards are something like DSC_0092.JPG, or CIMG3464.JPG. They are different from one camera to another.
- Some pictures are taken in portrait mode. We need to run another software to rotate them.
- Video files don't have EXIF info.
|
- Old and new picture/video files mixed within the same folder, it's difficult and tedious to find new files to transfer to hard drive.
- The file names given by the camera don't mean much to us.
- Need to run other software to eyeball-check the pictures and rotate them individually.
- Same as the picture files, video file names given by the camera don't mean much to us. Need extra work to rename them using their recording time.
|
- Use Flickr streamr with one click. All new files which haven't been transferred can be selected with one mouse click.
- Use Flickr streamr to rename all file to their taken dates/times automatically** during transfer.
- Use Flickr streamr to rotate portrait ones automatically** during transfer.
- Use Flickr streamr to rename video files to their recording dates/times automatically during transfer.

Pictures and videos on the hard drives:
- We want to keep the files/folders well-organized.
- We want to back up these files.
|
- We spend lots of efforts to move around files and try to keep an organized folder structures. But these files just tend to be messy after a while.
- If we don't make backup copies and the hard drive is suddenly broken, we lose all our precious pictures and videos.
|
- Apply a systematic methodology to organize our pictures and videos in a consistent file structure.
Usually by the picture taken date/time. Flickr streamr's auto-renaming of files helps in this respect.
- Flickr streamr thinks that one copy in our hard drive and another copy in Flickr website is a reasonable solution.

different uploader?
